Akhannouch government launches the Direct Social Support cash-transfer program
On 28 December 2023 the RNI-led government began disbursing direct cash aid under the Aide Sociale Directe program — a minimum of MAD 500 per family per month plus per-child allowances — to roughly one million families (~3.5 million people), unifying the Tayssir schooling stipend and other schemes. It is the flagship redistribution measure of the government's social-protection reform.

RNI wins the 2021 election and forms the Akhannouch coalition government
The National Rally of Independents (RNI), led by Aziz Akhannouch, won 102 of 395 seats in the 8 September 2021 general election (up from 37). King Mohammed VI appointed Akhannouch head of government on 10 September; on 22 September he announced a coalition agreement uniting RNI, the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM, 87 seats) and the Istiqlal Party (81 seats); the government took office on 7 October 2021 commanding ~270 of 395 seats. The vote crushed the incumbent Islamist PJD, which fell from 125 seats to 13.
