Meretz wiped out of the Knesset, falling below the threshold
In the 1 November 2022 election Meretz won 3.16–3.18% of the vote — just under the 3.25% threshold — and lost all its seats for the first time since 1992, leaving the Knesset without an avowedly Zionist-left party and capping three decades of decline for the Israeli peace camp.

Meretz joins the Rabin government and backs the Oslo Accords
After winning 12 seats in the 1992 election, Meretz became the main coalition partner of Yitzhak Rabin's Labor-led government formed on 13 July 1992 and was a driving force behind the 1993 Oslo Accords. Its leader Shulamit Aloni served as education minister before being moved over a religion-in-schools dispute. It was the high-water mark of the Israeli peace camp in government.

Meretz formed as a merged Zionist-left alliance
On 1 March 1992 the civil-rights party Ratz, the socialist Mapam and the liberal Shinui agreed to run as a joint list, Meretz, uniting the secular Zionist left around two-states, human rights (including minority and LGBT rights), religious freedom and the environment. It became a unified party in 1997.
