Asalah's parliamentary presence shrinks to 3 seats in the 2010 election
Asalah's representation in the Council of Representatives declined steadily — 7 seats (2002), 4 (2006), 3 (2010) and 2 (2014) — as it remained a loyalist Sunni Salafi bloc backing the government against the predominantly Shia opposition. Its three seats in the October 2010 election came on the eve of the February 2011 uprising, during which Asalah sided firmly with the monarchy.

In Bahrain's October 2002 election — the first for the restored Council of Representatives under the new constitution — the Salafi Islamic Asalah Society won seven seats, its best-ever result, establishing itself as the kingdom's leading Sunni Salafi political society. Asalah, the political wing of the Islamic Education Society, has consistently aligned with the ruling Al Khalifa family and conservative social policy.
