Cabinet gives Noam's Maoz authority over external school programming
In early 2023 the cabinet approved giving Avi Maoz's new authority — with a budget of at least NIS 100 million — control over external (non-curricular) programming in Israeli schools, enabling it to flag principals running content on LGBTQ topics and sex education. Critics called it state-backed targeting of pluralist education; the move bears directly on civil-liberties and minority-rights conduct.

Noam's Avi Maoz made deputy minister for "Jewish national identity"
Under his coalition deal with Netanyahu, Avi Maoz — the sole MK of the anti-LGBT Noam party — was appointed deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Office and head of a new "Jewish national identity" authority when the 37th government was sworn in on 29 December 2022. Maoz advocates shutting Pride parades, restoring "mother/father" on state forms, and removing "progressive" school content.
