Pulse

MENA politics is fluid. Parties merge, split, reform; leaders are elected, dismissed, or killed; regimes fall. The party and politician pages capture the dataset as it stands now; Pulse captures the movement — what just happened, what's under way, what's rumored but not yet formal. Each event carries a confidence rating and the same per-field source citations as every other Tayyar entity.

MBZ names his son Khaled crown prince of Abu Dhabi

On 29 March 2023 UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed designated his eldest son, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed — already chair of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the emirate's security apparatus — as crown prince of Abu Dhabi, making him heir apparent. The move (alongside top posts for MBZ's brothers) entrenched a direct father-to-son succession line in the federation's dominant emirate.

UAE normalizes relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords

On 13 August 2020 the UAE, under then-crown prince Mohamed bin Zayed, agreed to normalize relations with Israel — the deal signed in Washington on 15 September 2020. It made the UAE the first Gulf state and third Arab country (after Egypt and Jordan) to recognize Israel, abandoning the long-declared Arab condition of a Palestinian state first — a landmark divergence of behavior from decades of rhetoric.

Pulse is curated. If you spot a MENA political event that should be here — a party formation, leadership transition, election result, designation change — open an issue against the repo with citation links. Events are tracked the same way as parties and politicians: per-field source citations, verification status, last-reviewed-by.
