NFA wins Libya's 2012 election, bucking the Islamist trend

In the 7 July 2012 General National Congress election the NFA took about 48% of the list vote and 39 of the 80 party-list seats, finishing ahead of the Muslim Brotherhood's Justice and Construction Party — a rare first-place finish for liberals in an Arab Spring election, though Libya's fragmentation soon eclipsed the result.
