Naftali Bennett — Israel's first kippah-wearing, religious-Zionist prime minister, who took office in June 2021 leading the smallest party (Yamina, 7 seats) in an unwieldy eight-party coalition spanning right, left and the first-ever Arab governing party — saw his government unravel under defections. The Knesset dissolved on 30 June 2022; Bennett did not seek re-election, handing the caretaker premiership to Yair Lapid and exiting politics.
