Al-Menbar wins seven seats in Bahrain's 2006 election

In the November–December 2006 election Al-Menbar won seven seats, among the largest pro-government Sunni blocs in the 40-member Council of Representatives, balancing the Shia opposition society Al-Wefaq. It used its position to advance conservative legislation while declining to challenge the monarchy.
