Free Egyptians becomes the largest party in the 2015 parliament

In the October–December 2015 parliamentary election — the first under President Sisi — the Free Egyptians Party emerged with the most seats of any party, anchoring a parliament dominated by pro-government and independent blocs. Sawiris was later eased out of the party in 2017 amid friction with the authorities.
