Tebboune appoints his chief of staff Larbaoui prime minister

On 11 November 2023 President Abdelmadjid Tebboune dismissed PM Aymen Benabderrahmane and named his own chief of staff, the career diplomat Nadir Larbaoui (a former Algerian envoy to the Arab League and the UN), as prime minister — reinforcing the presidency-centric, executive-dominated character of Algerian governance ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
