Nasrallah becomes Hezbollah's leader at 32

In February 1992, after Israel assassinated Hezbollah secretary-general Abbas al-Musawi, the 32-year-old cleric Hassan Nasrallah was chosen to lead the movement. Over the next three decades he built Hezbollah into the most powerful military and political force in Lebanon and Iran's key regional ally, fighting Israel to a standstill in the 2006 war and intervening decisively in Syria.
