New Wafd's muddled boycott of the fraudulent 2010 election

In the NDP-rigged 2010 parliamentary election the New Wafd contested the first round, won only two seats, then declared the vote fraudulent and called a boycott of the second round — but, with its candidates' names left on the ballot, nominally won six seats it then refused to claim. The episode captured the bind of "loyal" opposition under Mubarak's managed elections.
