Saied installs Kamel Madouri as prime minister

On 7 August 2024, weeks before a tightly controlled presidential election, President Kais Saied abruptly dismissed PM Ahmed Hachani and named social-affairs minister Kamel Madouri to form a government. Madouri — a technocrat with no independent power base — exemplified the revolving-door, presidency-subordinated premiership of Saied's post-2021 one-man rule; Saied dismissed him in turn in March 2025.
