Abdul-Malik al-Houthi takes command of the Houthi movement

After Yemeni forces killed his brother and movement founder Hussein al-Houthi in September 2004, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi emerged as leader of the Zaydi-Shia Houthi movement (Ansar Allah). He led it through six rounds of war with the Saleh government (2004–2010) and built it into the dominant armed force in northern Yemen.
