Algeria — Statement to the 79th UN General Assembly (24 Sep 2024, Tebboune doctrine, delivered by FM Attaf)

1- شكراً السيد الرئِيس. نجتمعُ مجدداً في رِحاب مُنظمِتنا الأممية وعالمُنا يمر بمنعطف بالغِ الدقة والحساسية والخطورة، يَكْشِفُ عن حجم العجز الذي أصابَ منظومةَ الأمن الجماعي في ظل النزعة إلى حلِّ الخلافات بالقوة واللُّجوء المُفرط للإجراءات العقابية أحادية الجانب والاستخفاف بالشرعية الدولية.

3- فما يحدث في غزة من حربِ إبادةٍ جماعيةٍ مُتواصلة منذ ما يقرب العام كاملاً، وامتداد هذه الحرب إلى الضفة الغربية وإلى لبنان، ما كَانَ لِيَكُونَ لو أنَّ المجموعةَ الدولية اتّخَذَتْ مَوقفاً حازماً يَفْرِضُ على الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ما قنّنه ميثاق منظمتنا في فصله السابع.

5- ناشد رئيس الجمهورية، السيد عبد المجيد تبون، منظمتنا الأممية بالتعجيل في قبول العضوية الكاملة لدولة فلسطين.

12- تتطلع بلادي إلى تصفية الاستعمار تصفيةً نهائيةً عبر طي آخر صفحة من صفحاته على أرض الصحراء الغربية، بما يضمن للشعب الصحراوي ممارسةَ حقه غير القابل للتصرف في تقرير مصيره بين المملكة المغربية وجبهة البوليساريو.

1- Thank you, Mr. President. We meet again as our world passes through an extremely delicate, sensitive and dangerous juncture — one that reveals the scale of the deficit afflicting the collective-security system amid the tendency to resolve disputes by force, the excessive resort to unilateral punitive measures, and contempt for international legitimacy.

3- What is happening in Gaza — a continuous war of genocide for nearly a full year — and the extension of this war to the West Bank and to Lebanon: none of it would have happened had the international community taken a firm stance imposing on the Israeli occupation the measures enshrined in Chapter VII of our organization's Charter.

5- The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, appealed to our UN organization to expedite the acceptance of full membership for the State of Palestine.

10- A representative of a state from this region dared to address my country with vulgar speech wholly unbecoming of such a forum. Such degraded language my country will answer only with polite, refined language reflecting its loyalty to the deep-rooted bonds joining it with the peoples of the region.

12- My country looks toward the final end of colonialism by turning the last page of its chapters that still stand on the land of Western Sahara. We support the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy in enabling the two parties — the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front — to resume direct negotiations toward a political solution guaranteeing the Sahrawi people the exercise of their inalienable right to self-determination.

13- To those betting on entrenching the colonial fait accompli, we affirm that colonialism is destined to vanish and the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people will be realized, sooner or later.
