Mr. President, Your Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Your Excellencies the Kings, Presidents, and Heads of Government, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I address you today on behalf of the people and government of Sudan. Firstly, I am pleased to congratulate the President of the current session and his team, wishing them success amidst the growing threats to international peace and security. These threats have put our organization to the test, damaging the principles of freedom, peace, and justice, and violating international law.

Sudan believes in and supports the role of the United Nations and backs initiatives aimed at reforming and enhancing the work of its bodies, especially the Security Council, to strengthen multilateralism, collective security, uphold human rights, and address challenges such as climate change and racially or ideologically motivated terrorism.

The increase in unilateral actions outside the framework of the United Nations, in violation of the Charter and international law, and the use of political and economic coercive measures to achieve political goals, significantly contribute to destabilizing security, politics, and economies, and ignite wars. Additionally, **selectivity and double standards have become predominant features of international relations.**

Mr. President,

You are surely aware of the scale of the challenges and conspiracies my country, Sudan, is facing due to a war waged by a group that rebelled against the state with local and regional political and logistical support. You have witnessed the extent of the crimes, atrocities, and violations committed by this rebel group against the Sudanese people and the Sudanese state.

This war began as an attempt to seize power by force of arms but soon escalated into a full-scale war against the Sudanese people and their state.

**Due to the documented crimes of ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and genocide committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia, this group deserves to be classified as a terrorist organization.**

It continues to perpetrate all these crimes and, unfortunately, receives support and backing from countries in the region, providing them with money and mercenaries to achieve political and economic gains, in blatant defiance of international law and will.

[Additional verbatim quotes from the same speech as reported by UN News:]

"A war is being waged by a group of rebels receiving political and logistical support at the local and regional level."

"You've all witnessed the crimes, violations and atrocities committed by these rebels targeting the Sudanese people and the Sudanese State."

"Devastating aggression... has resulted in the deaths of dozens of thousands of Sudanese and the displacement of many millions more."

**"This Organization must shoulder its responsibility, specifically so as to protect developing countries in the face of the efforts by some other States who would like to control our people's riches through the use of force and specifically through the use of money."**

"We will continue pursuing peace, working with all groups who laid down their weapons as well as with groups who still carry weapons but who are willing to respect the Juba Peace Agreement signed in 2020."

[On the Sudanese military's character, per UN News:] "Non-politicized and... very much in favour of the democratic transition."
